Day Dot

I have no idea what I'm doing

Hosting a website on GitLab

I've managed to, somewhat successfully, get a domain & webpage rendered using gitlab pages and purchasing a DNS. This was a new experience to me, (not gitlab but the DNS part) and I'm glad I've managed to get it working. It seems like dark magic and a lot of waiting for the DNS to propagate, but I think (if my calculations are correct) that this page will show up on a domain that I now own, neat.

Today was not meant to be about getting a blog up and running. It was meant to be about a lot of other things, but as usual I've fallen headlong into a technical problem and spent the day trying to figure it out.

On the plus side, I sat outside most of the day (with my computer) bashing out code with the help of AI.

I think once I post this, I'll go for a run or a swim or something.

Design

I like a minimal design, I will probably play around with the styling of this site for a little while longer but I was obsessed with the idea of a nice clean minimal site, made from .md files. I've fallen in love with markdown since I realized it's power and beauty only 3 years ago (yes very late to the party). It reminds me of the cleanness of LaTeX but it actually wants to be used by humans.

AI

I am letting AI do a lot of the legwork for site styling etc. this might be gauche but isn't it much nicer to say "no move this over here" than actually having to write the CSS or HTML yourself? I still can't center a div and I probably never will be able to - so I let AI do the heavy lifting here.

Alright that's enough for now, goodbye & goodluck, R.
